Olivia Rodrigo discusses the 'strange' gift she received from President Biden
Pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday and discussed a trip she made to the White House over the summer to help get the word out to young people about the COVID-19 vaccine. She said that everyone she met there was “so kind,” including President Joe Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
“The White House is just the coolest place. I was so nervous to go,” Rodrigo said. “But I, like, walked in there, and there is like all these plates that, like, George Washington used to eat his dinner on. And all of this crazy stuff. I was like, scared I was going to sneeze and break a priceless artifact. It was crazy. But I walked out, didn't break anything. Thank god.”
While she didn’t break any priceless artifacts, she arguably walked away with a few. Because in a photo with President Biden, both he and Rodrigo are wearing a pair of his signature aviator sunglasses. So Kimmel asked if that was something he gave out, or if she brought her own.
“He gave them to me, actually,” Rodrigo said. “He gave me a few gifts. He gave me those. He gave me some M&Ms, and he also gave me a shoehorn, which is strange.”

Rodrigo, who proudly posted about the visit on her Instagram, told Kimmel that she didn’t notice the unique gift until later because it was in a bag. But that it was all part of an experience that she described as being, “an honor.”
Kimmel, meanwhile, was rather shocked by Rodrigo’s gift admission and had trouble keeping his laughter contained.
“Well, if you ever thought Joe Biden was too old to be president. Now we know he is,” Kimmel joked. “He is giving out shoehorns.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
