North Carolina High School Teacher, 77, Killed After Vicious and Mysterious Animal Attack
A North Carolina woman has tragically died after being viciously attacked by an animal and police are now desperately trying to find out what creature was reposible.
On Friday, at 5:47 a.m., police were called to Indian Run Road where they found 77-year-old Brenda Hamilton clinging to life, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a press release.
Hamilton was then rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was in critical condition before succumbing to her severe injuries. Her death was announced on Monday.
North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission Officers and Biologist also responded to the scene in hopes of determining what kind of animal attacked Hamilton.
“At this time preliminary DNA testing facilitated by NC Wildlife Biologist has eliminated any wild animals indigenous to the area,” police said.
Preliminary DNA testing found K9 DNA on Hamilton’s clothing.
However, it cannot be determined whether it was a domestic dog or a wild animal as the testing doesn’t “differentiate between wild K9s such as wolf or coyote,” Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said in the news release.
At this time, police are collecting DNA from dogs that live in the area.
Prior to her death, Hamilton worked as a high school teacher at Pungo Christian Academy.
On Monday, Pungo Christian Academy shared a tribute to the late teacher on Facebook.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share our precious Mrs. Hamilton has gained her wings,” the school wrote.
