On Sunday night, Nicola Coughlan lit up the Emmys red carpet in a sparkling silver Prabal Gurung ensemble. She wore a sequin mini dress, featuring a sculptural neckline that circled her bare shoulders and a wide peplum waist, with a pencil skirt that fell down to her feet. Her straight blonde hair was pinned back, revealing dainty dangling earrings.

The Bridgerton star’s blue eyes were emphasized by rose shadow and a coral lip.

This is Coughlan’s Emmys debut and she is scheduled to present an award at tonight’s ceremony. Her starring season in the Netflix Regency romance hit was widely celebrated this year. Coughlan plays Penelope, the once-secret writer of Lady Whistledown’s iconic gossip column about the upper crust of British society. She and Luke Newton’s Colin Bridgerton finally found their way to love and marriage after years of will-they-won’t-they flirtation.

During her press tour for the season, Coughlan’s incredible fashion choices caught everyone’s attention. She worked on her looks with stylist Aimée Croysdill.

“I get a lot of joy from it,” she said of her stunning ensembles. “Fashion matters because it’s how it makes you feel. I always say that you’ll feel different in a pair of pajamas to a ball gown. When I dress up, it makes me feel more powerful and sometimes sexier—it can make you feel a million different ways. There’s so much power in dressing. If you can utilize it to make you feel your best then that’s a brilliant thing.”

The next season is set to focus on Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson. Benedict’s love interest, Sophie, will be played by actress Yerin Ha. This past season missed eligibility for this year’s Emmys, but may compete in 2025.

Of saying goodbye to her season as it wrapped, Coughlan told Harper’s Bazaar, “I think my emotions were so high because I realized what a privileged position I was in, getting to lead [Bridgerton], getting to play this character, having Luke and the incredible creative team by my side. It was a real gift, and it was coming to an end.”
