Nicki Minaj Will Reportedly Not Be Charged For Alleged Assault On Ex-Manager
Nicki Minaj will not be charged in connection with allegations of assault made by her former tour manager, Brandon Garrett — but the case remains under investigation, according to TMZ.
On Monday (Jan. 6), the outlet reported that Detroit police requested a warrant in the matter, but it was denied by the Prosecutor’s Office due to “insufficient evidence” of a crime. However, prosecutors have requested further investigation and indicated they may revisit the case if stronger evidence surfaces.
The allegations stem from an incident in April 2024, during a stop on Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour in Detroit. Garrett claims the rapper assaulted him in her dressing room after discovering he had assigned someone else to collect her prescriptions from a pharmacy.
According to the lawsuit, the mother-of-one allegedly struck Garrett with an open palm and hit his wrist, causing him to drop documents he was holding. Garrett claims the blow to his face caused his head to “swing backward” and his hat to fly off, while his wrist was left “throbbing.”
The lawsuit also alleges that the global icon verbally berated Garrett, reportedly saying, “Are you f**king crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f**king mind, and if my husband were here, he would knock out your f**king teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just f**ked up your whole life, and you will never be anyone — I’ll make sure of it.”
The ex-manager claims he was so shaken that he locked himself in a bathroom for hours after the confrontation. He also alleges he was stranded in Detroit and informed he would no longer be working for Minaj following the incident.
However, Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, has denied the allegations to TMZ.
“At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”
Garrett is suing Minaj for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress and unspecified damages. The case remains open, pending further investigation.
