Who Is Nick Nolte's Wife? All About Clytie Lane
Nick Nolte married his wife after a decade-long relationship
Nick Nolte is known as a Hollywood rebel, but he has always found the time for love.
Nolte married three times before he married British actress Clytie Lane after a decade-long courtship. He first tied the knot with Sheila Page, an actress best known for her role in The Dick Van Dyke Show. That marriage ended in 1970 and he would visit the altar again in 1978 when he married Sharyn Haddad.
After the couple divorced in 1994, he married Rebecca Linger that same year. While they divorced a decade later, they shared a lasting friendship. Years later, Nolte and Lane married in 2016 after welcoming their daughter in 2007.
Lane lives a quiet life, although she once worked in the entertainment industry just like her husband.
So, who is Nick Nolte’s wife? Here is everything to know about Clytie Lane and her relationship with the actor.
Clytie makes spiritual music
Lane performs in a spiritual-focused band. The group has made appearances at events like the Topanga Earth Day celebration in 2014, and the 2016 Srila Prabhupada Festival. She sings and plays multiple instruments with the group.
Clytie is also an actress
Nolte is not the only one in their family in the entertainment business. Lane has a past in the industry, too.
She played Cheryl in Coffee Date, a film about a man whose friends begin to suspect he is gay after forming an unexpected friendship with a gay man. She also has a writing credit for the film Monkey Paw, which is in development.
They married in 2016
Nolte and Lane were in a long-term relationship before they tied the knot in 2016. They had been together for more than a decade and had a child together before they made it to the altar.
The couple have a daughter together
The couple welcomed their daughter, Sophia Lane, in 2007.
“They’re very happy about the addition,” Nolte's representative told PEOPLE shortly after Sophia's birth. “The baby girl, who has yet to be named, weighed 7 lbs. and 13 oz. at birth. Both mother and daughter are doing well.”
Since her arrival, Sophia has made a few appearances in the public eye, even acting alongside her father in a film.
She often joins her husband on the red carpet
Nolte and Lane often hit the red carpet together.
Whether she's supporting him at the premiere of one of his movies, like she did in 2006 at the Cannes film festival in France, or joining him for photos during his 2017 Hollywood Walk of Fame induction, Lane is always there supporting her husband.
Nolte acted in a film with their daughter
When director Til Schweiger told Nolte he wanted his daughter, Sophia, to star alongside him in the 2018 film Head Full of Honey, he made one thing clear, he'd have to seek out the approval of Lane.
”’You’re gonna have to talk to the mother, and it’s going to be a two-hour conversation,' " he retold the story to PEOPLE. Lane was worried that filming such emotional scenes with her father would be difficult on her mental health.
“I discussed that with her mother. [Sophia] doesn’t get affected with adulation or criticism. She really rides the middle of the road really well," he said. In the end, the experience was positive for both of them, and Nolte said he would do it again in a heartbeat.
Head Full of Honey tells the story of a widower, played by Nolte, who is growing more and more frustrated with his Alzheimer's diagnosis. With the help of his granddaughter, played by Nolte's daughter, he returns to Italy, the place where he first met his late wife.
Their daughter makes jokes about their age gap
In Head Full of Honey, Sophia plays the granddaughter of her real-life father, Nolte. Lane was concerned that this may be a strange dynamic for their 11-year-old daughter to compartmentalize, but Nolte joked to PEOPLE that it was the perfect role because she already calls him grandpa.
“She calls me Grandpa, anyway,” he revealed. “I asked her why and she said, ‘Because you’re twice the age of most of my friends’ parents!’ ” At 83 years old, Nolte and Lane, who is in her 50s, have an age gap that Sophia loves to poke fun at.
