Next season's Broadway in Erie shows feature Tony Award winners. What's being performed
Four out of the next five Broadway in Erie shows will be making Warner Theatre debuts during the 2024-25 season.
NAC Entertainment, which produces Broadway in Erie, along with Erie Events, recently revealed the upcoming schedule.
"We've been partnering with NAC since 1981," said Gus Pine, executive director of Erie Events. "We obviously have a commitment and a passion for the arts and I'm just thankful that we found an organization that shares that commitment and ... allows us to attract such fantastic shows."
This five-show season includes “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Pretty Woman: The Musical,” “The Cher Show,” “The Addams Family” and “Ain’t Too Proud ― The Life and Times of The Temptations.”
“With the Tony Awards (on June 16), the timing seemed perfect to announce the 2024-25 Broadway season,” said Tom Combs from NAC Entertainment. “Four of these shows will be performing on the Warner stage for the first time ever, and we feel that we have a wonderful show for the entire family.”
"This season has a very diverse set of shows that I think is going to appeal to a wide range of our fanbase," Pine said. "A lot of times what we're trying to do is attract many different groups. We try to have a little something for everybody."
Here are the shows headed to Erie and what they entail according to Erie Events:
'Dear Evan Hansen'
The Tony Award-winning "Dear Evan Hansen" will take place Oct. 15 and 16.
It tells the story of Evan Hansen, a high school student who feels like an outsider looking in. When he finally gets the chance to fit in, what follows is described as a poignant, funny and powerful musical about how we find each other along the way.
'Ain’t Too Proud'
The Tony-winning Broadway musical "Ain’t Too Proud ― The Life and Times of the Temptations" follows the group's journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. The show will close out the Broadway in Erie season May 23 and 24.
'The Addams Family'
A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, "The Addams Family" is a macabre hit musical following the show's iconic and eccentric characters. The story follows the Addams' daughter, Wednesday, who falls in love with a smart young man from a respectable family ― a man whom her parents have yet to meet. Wednesday begs her father not to tell her mother which means Gomez Addams must do the impossible and keep a secret from his wife Morticia. This show will take place March 17 and 18.
'The Cher Show'
Does Erie believe in life after love?
Superstars come and go, but Cher has been one for six straight decades, breaking barriers and pushing boundaries. This Tony Award-winning musical follows Cher’s story and includes 35 hits from all of those six decades.
This show will take place Feb. 25 and 26.
'Pretty Woman: The Musical'
Based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved and romantic stories, this show springs to life with a creative team led by two-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell.
"Pretty Woman: The Musical" follows Roy Orbison and Bill Dee’s international hit song “Oh, Pretty Woman” which inspired the romantic comedy film. This show is a romantic fantasy which delivers on all the iconic moments from the film. It runs Jan. 8 and 9.
