Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Revealed They’re Trying to Discourage Their Twins From Doing This in Front of the Paparazzi
Despite being in the public eye forever, David Burtka revealed that the spotlight is quite hard for his and Neil Patrick Harris‘ twins. And apparently, Burtka had to dissuade their son Gideon from making this habit around the paps
“It’s been their whole life. They know about the paparazzi and they know that they have to be nice,” Burtka said to Us Magazine. “My son went through a period where he sort of gritted his teeth for photos and we said, ‘No, you have to be nice.’ But, you know, it’s tough.”

He added, “I think there’s another added pressure to feel like you’re always having to be on or you never know if someone’s going to jump out of the bushes and might take a photo of you.”
While at the GLSEN Respect Awards, he added that having a superstar dad like Harris probably doesn’t help, saying, “I think … my kids having Neil as a dad is a little more of a pressure. I feel for them that way.”
It must be so hard having not one, but two famous parents, but it seems Burtka and Harris are there for them to teach them boundaries, good etiquette, and handling it all.
Harris and Burtka have been together since April 2004, later marrying in Sept 2014 after being engaged since 2006. In October 2010, they welcomed twins named Gideon and Harper via surrogacy.
In a previous, super-rare interview with YahooLife in 2021, Harris talked about his approach to parenting. “I kind of approach parenting as a ‘let’s see how it goes’ attitude,” he said. “I think rigidity gets us into more trouble than being flexible. We have our rules and we have our edicts and boundaries, but if you’re super hardcore about things, it turns into more conflict than is necessary.”
