Napa Valley-inspired winery, restaurant planning 2nd Jacksonville location

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, the Napa Valley wineries-inspired concept that offers a tasting room, full-service restaurant and market as well as its own wine club with more than 500,000 members, is poised to add a second restaurant in Jacksonville.

According to documents filed last week with Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Cooper’s Hawk is planning a new restaurant at Mandarin Landing at 10601 San Jose Blvd., anchored by Whole Foods and Kirkland’s Home plus dining landmark Enza’s Italian Restaurant.

The restaurant plans seating for at least 296, according to the documents, including 152 in the main dining room, 48 in the bar area, 24 each in the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay rooms and 48 in an outdoor patio area. The restaurant also includes a large tasting bar and artisan market area.

The planned addition of Cooper’s Hawk comes as the Regency Centers-developed shopping center is undergoing a $15 million redevelopment project that includes the renovation of the former Office Depot space into a nearly 25,000-square-foot Baptist Health medical facility, the Jacksonville Daily Record reported earlier this year.

Following the demolition of a number of storefronts east of the former office supply store, a new building is under construction near Whole Foods that will include cosmetics and skincare store Sephora, European Wax Center and Jacksonville’s fifth Another Broken Egg Café, according to a Regency Centers site plan for the center. A building permit was issued in late July for the building’s construction, city records show.

Cooper’s Hawk will likely be built at what is now part of the parking lot near a retention pond at the shopping center’s San Jose Boulevard entrance, the site plan shows.

Founded by Tim McEnery in 2005, the Illinois-based concept collaborates with growers around the world to provide grapes to its central wine production facility in Woodridge, Illinois, where it makes more than 50 wines for its more than 50 restaurants across 11 states.

The restaurant’s menu includes signature entrees Shrimp & Scallop Risotto, Filet Mignon, Parmesan-Crusted Mahi Mahi, Cooper’s Hawk Chicken Giardiniera and more. Chopped salads, burgers and sandwiches and a selection of better-for-you entrees under 600 calories are also available. Dessert highlights include Cooper’s Hawk Chocolate Cake, Salted Caramel Crème Brulee, Key Lime Pie and more.

The Mandarin Landing restaurant would be the second Cooper's Hawk location in Jacksonville. The restaurant entered the Northeast Florida market in October 2015, taking over the former Whisky River spot at Markets at Town Center.
