NAACP Image Awards: Quinta Brunson, Jennifer Hudson and Fight Night Win Big
Winners for this year’s NAACP Image Awards — which celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film — were announced daily this week, culminating in the live telecast that aired Saturday night on CBS and BET.
Heading into this year’s awards, Ayo Edebiri was the most-nominated TV performer with four total nominations — three for her work on FX’s The Bear, and another for her memorable hosting debut on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. On Tuesday, she converted on one of those opportunities when she was named Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television).

The most-nominated TV series overall this year was ABC’s Abbott Elementary with 10 nods, including for stars Quinta Brunson, Janelle James, Tyler James Williams, William Stanford Davis and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Not only did Brunson pick up a trophy Saturday for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, but Abbott also won for Outstanding Comedy Series.
