Morgan Wallen Fans Overwhelmingly Approve of Unexpected Onstage Fashion Choice
Morgan Wallen made an unexpected change to his signature performing 'fits, and his fans are hoping he'll never look back.
The "Wasted on You" crooner recently looked more country than ever while making an appearance as a musical guest at the 49th Annual New York Honors Gala this week, where he shocked fans by sporting a good ole' fashioned cowboy hat.
The wardrobe choice was a big deal for Wallen's fans, who have gotten used to seeing the country star in a baseball cap when he performs on stage.
But while taking the stage at the NYC event on Tuesday, Sept. 17 to sing his hit song "Lies Lies Lies," Wallen went full-on cowboy.
In addition to the black cowboy hat, Wallen, 31, sported an open denim button-down shirt, which he wore over a plain white T-shirt and a pair of grey trousers.
But it was his headwear that had Wallen's fans freaking out, with users commenting on video footage from the event to compliment his country style.
"Morgan Wallen in a cowboy hat ????" one adoring fan wrote on Instagram, with another user echoing, "I enjoy cowboy hat ?? Morgan!"
Someone else called the "Whiskey Glasses" artist their "Favorite cowboy ??????" after seeing the clip.
Other thought Wallen should keep the trend going and start wearing cowboy hats more often.
"Morgan should wear that more ??" one person wrote, while another fan begged him, "please never take that hat off."
Tuesday night's performance, which also featured Hardy and Ernest, helped raise $2.6 million for cancer research on behalf of the T.J. Martell Foundation, Variety reports. Thanks to the country stars' performance, the foundation raised its biggest amount in more than 20 years.
