Morgan Freeman coming to Chautauqua Institute in August for lecture series
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Famous actor, narrator, director and producer Morgan Freeman will be coming to the Chautauqua Institute this August to take part in the Chautauqua Lecture Series.
Freeman, who has won numerous awards throughout his career, will join the institute’s morning lecture series on Aug. 19 and 20, the organization announced.
“In a week considering ‘Past Informs Present: How to Harness History,’ Freeman will join our morning lecture series on Aug. 19, discussing the rich history and heritage of Blues music in American culture — and the work being done to preserve and celebrate that legacy,” the institute said Monday in a social media post.
Freeman will also introduce “Symphonic Blues” with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra on Aug. 19, presenting a live concert experience featuring his narration. On Aug. 20, he will also take part in a master class with blues musicians.
Tickets for the Aug. 19 lecture are $30 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 28. The institute’s official ticketing website can be found here. The master class registration starts April 28.
