Monica Says C-Murder Left Her “Heartbroken,” Walks Red Carpet With New Man
Monica has opened up about her relationship with C-Murder, revealing that the incarcerated rapper left her “heartbroken.” She also added that she’s looking to “move forward” with her love life.
The veteran songstress recently made a public appearance at Nelly’s Black & White Ball. She turned heads by bringing along a new man as her date, leading many fans to inquire about her dealings with C-Murder. In a post on The Shade Room’s Instagram account, numerous users noted the presence of Monica’s date and questioned whether her and C-Murder were still an item.
The Atlanta native responded to one commenter by joking that she hadn’t mentioned C-Murder’s name in quite some time while urging her fans to follow suit. “I haven’t said his name in 2 yrs,” Monica wrote, adding a string of laughter emojis. “Can y’all follow my lead like y’all did when I brought him up. One band one sound.”
The 43-year-old would later address the status of her dealings with C-Murder in a subsequent comment, admitting that the pair were no longer together while wishing him well in his fight for freedom. “Well, here it is in short! I got my heartbroken (again) and that’s ok!” Monica shared. “Learned yet another valuable lesson! I went through it, got over it, now I can laugh about it ! Life continues ! I feel great that through it he has representation to one day be free! Let’s move forward.”
In 2020, Monica publicly vowed to assist C-Murder in his fight to overturn his murder conviction stemming from the 2002 shooting death of Steven Thomas in Louisiana. The singer’s comments at the time spurred speculation that the former couple was possibly working towards rebuilding their relationship. They began dating prior to C-Murder’s incarceration after being charged in the shooting, which he was ultimately convicted of in 2003.
Last week, it was announced that C-Murder’s conviction would be upheld in court and he will serve out the remainder of the life sentence he received for the crime in 2009.
