Miranda Lambert's husband Brendan McLoughlin on leave of absence from the NYPD
Is Miranda Lambert's husband Brendan McLoughlin considering a career change?
The 28-year-old police officer – who secretly tied the knot with the country music star in January – is taking time away from his job at the New York Police Department.
"Officer McLoughlin is on an authorized leave of absence," a NYPD spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY Friday. "The Department has rules and procedures governing leaves of absence by members of the service and complies with applicable law."
Although officials wouldn't disclose the specifics behind McLoughlin's sabbatical, the department said service members take leaves "for various reasons many of which are personal in nature."
It's not clear how long McLoughlin will be on leave.

McLoughlin and Lambert met last fall during her performance on "Good Morning America," where he was assigned as a police officer. Since tying the knot, the couple have split their time between Nashville and New York.
"We have the best of both worlds. We spend time in New York, we get to see our adorable nugget," Lambert told Extra in June, referring to McLoughin’s infant son from a previous relationship. "Then we get to come back to the farm and have the quiet life. I'm enjoying the balance."
And despite reports that the couple's relationship is on the rocks, Lambert's rep confirmed they are "happy and together!"
