Sportscaster Mike Tirico says goodbye to ESPN after 25 years
Mike Tirico signed off ESPN for the final time Thursday night. Surrounded by his fellow sportscasters in Paris during coverage of UEFA Euro 2016, Tirico shared his gratitude and respect for the network he’d been part of for 25 years.
“I think 25 years is something like over 9,000 days, and every one of those days ESPN’s been a part of my life,” Tirico reminisced.
Tirico joined ESPN in 1991 as an anchor for SportsCenter. Over his years with the network, Tirico has been notable for his ability to cover a wide range of assignments, including play-by-play college football, NBA games, and the U.S. Open. As of Friday, Tirico will be working for NBC Sports.
