Mike Myers’ Linda Richman Surprises Amy Poehler & Maya Rudolph’s ‘Bronx Beat With Betty And Jodi’ On ‘SNL50,’ Talkin’ About Her “Zorch”
When the sketch for Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph’s Bronx Beat With Betty and Jodi dropped on tonight’s SNL50: The Anniversary Special, it felt like a certain someone was missing, even though that certain someone wasn’t a staple to the sketch.
And then Mike Myers’ Linda Richman showed up before the three-minute mark in the six-minute-plus sketch on an appropriate cue:

“Betty, let’s get out of here, ya know we can go get some coffee or something,” said Rudolph’s Jodi.
“Is somebody talkin’ about coffee?” said Myers’ Linda, popping up. The New York-ish character was based on Myers’ former Jewish mother-in-law.
“I thought I’d come out and see the girls, no big whoop,” said Myers’ Richman.
“Linda, you look wonderful,” said Poehler’s Betty.
“Both of you, you look like butta'” punctuated Myers with Richman’s classic catchphrases, “O, c’mon, look at ya, two big sticks of butta!”
Their secret? Rudolph’s Jodi, says that she keeps her skin fresh with “snail sperm,” while Poehler’s Betty “is drinkin’ six nights a week.”
The coffee tawk chatter, which experienced a bit of the sound issues noticeable in other parts of the broadcast, went to the subject of their mutual dear friend Paul Baldwin, who Richman explained, “has advanced stookis in his gazectiveit. They flew him up from Boca Raton in an iron lung.”
Who is Paul Baldwin? No relation to SNL staple thespian Alec Baldwin.
The “Coffee Talk” sketch first launched on January 19, 1991, entitled “Coffee Talk with Paul Baldwin”, with Myers playing Baldwin. Starting with the October 12, 1991, episode, Baldwin was no more, with Myers reigning as Richman as the substitute host,
The whole topic of Paul Baldwin made Richman, natch, “all verklempt…talk among yourselves!”
The Bronx Beat girls asked Richman how she was doing. Her problem? “My zorch is on fire. I had to have it looped up four inches, where my belly button used to be.”
“Your zorch?” they asked.
“My zorch,” Richman responded.
“Your what?” they volleyed.
“My zorch,” emphasized Richman.
“I think she means her downtown,” said Rudolph’s Jodi.
“Yes, sit-ups are out of the question,” exclaimed Myers’ Richman.
Leave it to Richman to have some wisdom on the 50th special: “Can I just say something? We’re all miracles. Maybe, the secret of life is that there are no big whoops, it’s just a series of small agonizing whoops.”
Poehler’s Betty and Rudolph’ Jodi previously brought up Miles Teller from the studio audience and teased him about being a “tough one” as Rooster in “Top Gun 2.”
