Michael B. Jordan’s tight-knit bond with his family is at the core of who he is.

The Creed star, who is famously close with his parents, is equally bonded to his siblings: older sister, Jamila Jordan-Theus and younger brother, Khalid Jordan.

“Honestly, it’s like they all have had such an impact on me and who I am and how I approach each day. Without that, a lot of things about me just wouldn’t be the same,” he told PEOPLE about his family after being named Sexiest Man Alive in 2020. “So it all comes back to that foundation. I’m really thankful for that."

The trio of talented siblings were raised in New Jersey by mom Donna Jordan and dad Michael A. Jordan. Michael’s siblings also work in the entertainment industry, and the Just Mercy actor boasted to Entertainment Tonight in 2022 that he’s “incredibly proud” of their achievements.

So who are Michael B. Jordan’s two siblings? Read on for everything to know about Jamila and Khalid.

They grew up together in New Jersey

Jamila and Michael were both born in Santa Ana, California, but their family moved to Newark, New Jersey, to be closer to mom Donna’s family when the actor was 2 years old. Younger brother Khalid was born there, and despite Michael’s early years in California, he also considers himself a full East Coaster.

“My first two years were in California, but I claim East Coast. I'm sorry, I don’t rep California,” he told HuffPost in 2013.

Michael admitted to PEOPLE that he had an “awkward” phase growing up — and one his siblings even made fun of him during the rough period.

"I think a lot of my childhood was awkward," he recalled, adding that family nicknames didn’t exactly help. "They used to call me 'Mr. Chippy,' my sister used to tease me all the time because I had a chipped tooth,” he said.

Later on, the siblings attended Newark Arts High School, where their mom Donna was also a teacher.

Khalid was a football star

While Michael’s athletic inclinations led him to the track and basketball teams, Khalid found himself drawn to football.

After graduating middle school from Link Community Charter School in 2006, the rising star began playing football for nearby Malcolm X. Shabazz High School, according to his Link alumni speaker profile.

His talents later earned him an athletic scholarship to Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he continued to play college football.

The whole family starred in a fashion campaign together

In 2020, Michael took advantage of a rare opportunity to work alongside his entire family in a holiday campaign for Coach, for which the Wire actor is a global brand ambassador. The campaign featured the family discussing their holiday traditions and spending time celebrating the festive season together.

"I don’t think I’ve ever had my family be a part of one of my campaigns or a part of my work before," the star told PEOPLE exclusively at the time, noting that he enjoyed  working with his parents and siblings on the shoot. "Just crossing over family and business ... it was a fun experience."

The Black Panther star added that the most memorable part of the entire experience was the time spent together, and "being able to have the people who support me on the daily take part in it."

Jamila is an Emmy-winning producer

Michael isn’t the only award-winning sibling in this family. The eldest Jordan sibling has earned two Emmys for her work as a producer and development executive on various television and film projects, including 2021’s miniseries Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts and CNN’s 2021 historical movie Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street, which she co-executive produced along LeBron James.

As a veteran of the industry with over 15 years of experience, Jamila's work has been featured across platforms including Netflix, Disney+, CNN, OWN and more. She currently works as Head of Motion Picture for Genius Entertainment, a position that she started in February 2021.

Jamila's role focuses on overseeing all development of feature films for the production company, which was co-founded by actress Marsai Martin.

“I am thrilled to join the Genius Entertainment family and look forward to working with creatives who are committed to ushering stories that help shape how we see the world and ultimately how we view ourselves,” Jamila announced at the time, according to Deadline.

Before taking on her leading role at the company, she worked as a Creative Executive at SpringHill Entertainment, and as a Director of Development at Sirens Media, according to her LinkedIn.

Jamila’s interest in the industry traces back to college, when she graduated from Temple University with a broadcasting degree in 2006.

Khalid also works in the entertainment industry

Khalid is a director of development at Macro Television Studios, an executive position which he began in 2020, according to Variety. The global media company is dedicated to representing the voices of Black artists and people of color, both through scripted and unscripted projects. Khalid was brought on to primarily expand the studio’s scripted TV programming.

Previously, Khalid worked at Warner Horizon, managing drama and comedy development. His passion and pursuit of a career in entertainment dates back to childhood, when he majored in television production at Newark Arts High School, according to his Link alumni speaker page. While studying at Howard University, he landed several internships with media companies, including Sesame Workshop and BET.

Upon graduating, Khalid moved to California and got his start working in the mail room at William Morris Endeavor, a talent agency. He eventually worked his way up to the Television Literary and Digital Department, before landing a manager role at Mass Appeal and later, his first role as a development executive for Warner Horizon.

Jamila is a wife and mother

While Jamila largely keeps her private life out of the spotlight, she offered fans a brief glimpse into her Los Angeles-based life with husband Reggie Theus and their son, Lennox, when the trio stepped out for a rare public outing in 2023. The entire Jordan family was on hand to show support for Michael B. when he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Jamila, who shared a Zola link to her wedding registry in August 2017, tied the knot with her husband Theus soon after. In early 2020, the couple welcomed their first and only child together.

Speaking about his nephew during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May 2020, Michael gushed that he was doing “great” and was newly mobile. He went on to credit his adorable nephew with removing any urgent family pressure for the star to have a child of his own.

"He bought me some time," said Michael. "Lennox definitely gave me a break right there.”

His siblings have supported him throughout his career

The Jordan siblings have always had each others’ backs, showing up to support each other in personal and professional ways since childhood.

While Michael is certainly no stranger to red carpets, his family has made their fair share of appearances alongside him: he took his mom as his date to the 2019 Oscars, and his siblings have proudly stood beside him at award shows, movie premieres and more.

Just a month after the star split from girlfriend Lori Harvey after one year of dating, he stepped out at the July 2022 world premiere of Nope in L.A. — with his siblings on hand to support him.

In December 2022, he was joined by Jamila and their parents at the Critics Choice Association’s fifth annual Celebration of Black Cinema and Television, where the star was honored for his work.

Just a few months later, the A Journal for Jordan actor was honored once more — this time with a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To mark the special occasion, the actor’s entire family showed up to celebrate him, including nephew Lennox.

Michael proudly champions his siblings’ careers

When Jamila produced her first movie, 2022’s Fantasy Football starring Omari Hardwick and Kelly Rowland, Michael could hardly contain his excitement.

“Words can’t describe,” he gushed to Entertainment Tonight at the film’s premiere, adding that he was “so excited for her."

Michael praised his sister’s determination and work ethic, saying, “She’s been working extremely hard.” Admiring how the “picture [came] full circle in such a short amount of time,” he noted, “I’m extremely proud of her.”

The star’s radiant pride extended to his younger brother as well, who was also on hand alongside their parents to show support for Jamila’s movie premiere.

“Khalid’s over there, he’s at Macro,” Michael told the outlet of his brother’s executive role at the television studio. “We’re all kind of finding our spot in the industry and doing our thing,” he said. “Jamila got two Emmys racked up this year, so I’m incredibly proud and excited.”
