Miami-based restaurant to open new Sarasota-Bradenton location
A Miami-based, health and wellness-centered cafe concept will soon expand to Sarasota-Manatee, joining the growing list of restaurant openings in one of the busiest shopping and dining districts locally.
Pura Vida plans to open a University Town Center location in a 2,000-square-foot space along Cattlemen Road in The West District at UTC, with an opening scheduled for the first quarter of 2024, according to a press release. It will be the first Sarasota-Manatee location for Pura Vida, which was founded in 2012 by husband and wife Omer and Jennifer Horev and currently has 15 locations, primarily in South Florida as well as one internationally in Doha, Qatar.

The restaurant's menu includes an all-day breakfast offering avocado toast, pasture-raised egg sandwiches and fresh bagels; acai bowls; salads that are customizable with choice of protein; and wraps, sandwiches and bowls featuring a variety of bases and proteins.
The menu also features baked sweet treats, with several gluten-free and/or vegan options, as well as a kids menu with gluten-free offerings such as the Tiny Toasted Chicken, Cheesy Grilled Cheese and Kid’s Acai Bowl. For beverages, Pura Vida offers a selection of artisanal coffees and teas, cold-pressed juices and wellness shots, superfood smoothies, and kombucha.
Pura Vida is one of multiple dining and drinking spots slated to soon open in University Town Center, including new locations for local favorites The Breakfast Company and Greek eatery Blu Kouzina, Tampa Bay "farm-to-fork" restaurant Naked Farmer, Orlando-based coffee shop Foxtail Coffee Co., and upscale chain Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Other restaurants that have already opened their doors this year in UTC include national sports bar chain Yard House, the West Palm Beach-based Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar, Punta Gorda-founded brewery and "fish house-inspired" eatery Fat Point Brewing, and a new location for Manatee County's own Anna Maria Oyster Bar.
