Meghan McCain slams Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy: 'They are the poster children for what everyone hates about white privilege'
“The View” co-host Meghan McCain dismissed actress Felicity Huffman’s plea for leniency from the judge, who will be sentencing her for her role in a college bribery scandal, by calling for jail time for the disgraced “Desperate Housewives” star. “She deserves to go to jail,” said McCain.
Huffman pled guilty to fraud in May after she was accused of paying a college advisor $15,000 to correct her daughter’s SAT exam. Federal prosecutors are recommending a sentence of one month in jail, a $20,000 fine, and a year of probation. While the actress’ attorneys agree on a year of probation and $20,000 fine, they’re arguing for community service instead of jail time.
“I unequivocally take complete responsibility for my actions and will respectfully accept whatever punishment the court deems appropriate,” writes Huffman in her letter.
It was also revealed that Huffman’s husband, actor William H. Macy, also wrote a letter to the judge where he talked about his wife’s struggle with motherhood. “But motherhood has, from the very beginning, frightened Felicity and she has not carried being a mom easily. She’s struggled to find the balance between what the experts say and her common sense,” writes Macy.
McCain slammed Macy and Huffman, describing the couple as “the poster children for what everyone hates about white privilege.”
Fellow panelist Joy Behar weighed in, saying, “Let’s face it. She’s rich, she’s entitled, and she tried to game the system.” Behar added, “This whole rap the husband’s giving about how hard it is to be a mother? Welcome to the club!”
Viewers on Twitter were split, but many agreed with McCain that Huffman should face jail time for her role in the bribery scandal:
Felicity committed a crime. She and others, who did the same, need to go to prison for a long time. Just because she and others are wealthy/celebs, shouldn't mean that they are given preferential treatment. How many poor innocent, wrongfully convicted people are in prisons.

Hope she gets prison time. These entitled people need to learn a lesson

@TheView Privileged Felicity Huffman should talk to a mother who works 3 jobs to take care of her family. THAT is stressful motherhood.

Others expressed that they didn’t think Huffman’s guilty plea should lead to jail time:
While I agree it’s a crime, I don t think it calls for prison but big big fines and major community service!

@TheView I disagree with you on felicity huffman. People in politics and the business world play the system EVERYDAY without consequences. She should not receive prison time.

Huffman is the scapegoat here. How many 100's if not 1000's are getting off Scott free. This is bs. I'll bet those students that might've missed this or that school got into other perfectly fine ones. That's no reason to be sent away for a repentant person
