Martha Stewart Stirred up Her Donald Trump Feud Again by Making This Political Move
Martha Stewart isn’t one to jump into the celebrity political fray, but she did so on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the 2024 Retail Influencer CEO Forum. She wasn’t just excited about the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, but she also revealed who she was supporting this year.
The lifestyle guru made it clear that she is firmly in Vice President Kamala Harris’ corner because she wants someone “who doesn’t hate New York, and who “doesn’t hate democracy,” according to The Daily Beast. That’s quite the slam against the former president, who once counted New York City as his playground when he and his ex-wife, the late Ivana Trump, ruled the Manhattan socialite set.

What Stewart did was reignite their feud that began in 2006 with their dueling versions of The Apprentice on NBC. The shows were not supposed to air at the same time, but that is not how things played out and Donald Trump won that round when her ratings didn’t match his. “Having two Apprentices was as unfair to him as it was unfair to me,” she said to Newsweek in 2006, via the Telegram & Gazette. “But Donald really wanted to stay on.”
Donald Trump, of course, had a response to her criticism, telling the Associated Press, via CBS News, “I wish she would be able to take responsibility for her failure.” Stewart did publicly back Hillary Clinton in 2016 but was a bit hesitant in 2020 to support Joe Biden because of the divisive tone of politics. “My personal conundrum is, my friends know who I am and what I stand for, but in terms of being the owner of the magazine, how do you take sides when 50 percent of your readers might be on one side, and 50 percent on the other? It’s difficult,” she told The New York Times. “That’s my answer to that.”
This year, she dipped her toes into the political pool just a little bit, but she’s retreating to where it is safe. “I’m not allowed to talk [about politics]. I can’t post anything about politics because first of all, the eyeballs of a parent company come and [I’ll] get a call right away—can’t do that,” Stewart told the audience at the 2024 Retail Influencer CEO Forum. “You can’t talk [about that], so—keep it quiet.” But her Kamala Harris endorsement was just enough to fire that Donald Trump feud up once more.
