Martha Stewart Playfully Pushes Drew Barrymore During Handsy Moment
Martha Stewart wanted her interview on CBS' The Drew Barrymore Show to be hands-off.
The 83-year-old homemaking personality and businesswoman was a guest on the Barrymore-hosted show on Tuesday (November 12) following the release of her Netflix documentary to promote her new cookbook. The interview started off innocently, with Stewart being welcomed alongside men in ancient Grecian-inspired wardrobe and being surprised with the naming of Martha Stewart Place in her hometown of New Jersey. But somewhere during the conversation, Barrymore asked what makes Stewart "soft and gooey" and began to rub her guest's shoulder.
"Soft and gooey treatment, when you're treated like a lady," Barrymore clarified while stroking Stewart's arm.
Stewart acknowledged the crowd during the intimate moment and joked that Barrymore was "the wrong gender" before playfully pushing her. Barrymore responded, "I know," before landing on her back on the couch while the audience laughed and applauded.
"Although the way it's going with men though, Martha...I'm not so sure anymore," Barrymore said.
While the clip circulated online, it isn't visible in the full segment on YouTube.
Barrymore's been controversial for her handsy conversations on her talk show, like her interview with Oprah Winfrey last December. But when asked about the interaction by a TMZ reporter, Winfrey said she was "comforted" by Barrymore.
"I went home and told Stedman, 'You gotta stroke my arm. Stedman, I need to be stroked on the arm,'" Winfrey joked. "Itโs so comforting. No, I was not uncomfortable at all. Iโve never seen her do that, but I thought it was endearing."
