Marques Houston Makes His Desires Known With New ‘Cowgirl’ Music Video: Watch
Marques Houston is urging his fans to follow suit, saddle up, and ride off into the sunset with their lover with the help of the visual for his new single, “Cowgirl.”
Naturally, the Chris Stokes-directed music video plays off a country western, cowboy theme as he walks into a saloon seeking the attention of one special lady. As he begins to sing, Houston sparks up his first dance break. Looking like one-half of a You Got Served battle, the crooner makes his desires known in a bold and concise manner.
“Cowgirl”—one of Houston’s favorite songs from his upcoming album, The Best Worst Year Ever—sounds like the grown-up, sexier version of “Sex Wit You” with its interpolation of Bobby Brown’s “Rock Wit’cha.” When deciding to sample Brown’s 1988 classic, Houston tells VIBE he knew it was the one. Plus, it’s one of his favorite songs from the New Edition bad boy.
Initially, he wanted to remake the song but opted to put his own spin on it. “We started writing and playing with the ideas […] I am a family man now, so I can’t be out there talking about ‘Sex Wit You’ no more. You know what I’m saying? But I was like ‘Married people have sex too.’ I [just] didn’t want to be too vulgar with it. I wanted it to still be tasteful [and chose to] make it to where everybody can enjoy this song.”
Since Houston dropped a teaser of his new single, fans have started a #CowgirlDanceChallenge as a nod to the triple threat, and it’s making its rounds on TikTok. The self-proclaimed Tubi King hasn’t shared many details about his new album, but we can tell you that if you’ve been looking for a Naked sequel, this could be it. The Best Worst Year Ever includes prior releases “Last Drop” and “Admit It.”
