Man Dies After Riding Atop NYC Train
Before the sunrise on Wednesday morning (Oct. 5), a reported subway surfer died after riding atop a Coney Island-bound F train, the New York Daily News reports.
The man has yet to be unidentified, but local authorities state the man died around 4:45 a.m. after he was “clipped and fell” onto the subway tracks at the Fourth Avenue/Ninth Street station.
According to the Gothamist, a police investigation is underway as F and G service has been restored.
In May of this year, a Queens man was fatally struck in the head while riding on the outside of a Brooklyn-bound F train. The dangerous pursuit of “subway surfing” has been an ongoing instance in the Big Apple. Dating back even as far as 2007, a man died on the scene after falling off a Harlem-based C-train.
