In Loving Memory: Stuart Scott’s Daughters Remember His Legacy In A Video Tribute

Today (Jan. 4) marks the one-year anniversary of Stuart Scott’s passing. And in honor of the late sportscaster’s memory and unrivaled courage, his two, young daughters remember his legacy in a video “love letter.”

Scott’s daughters Sydni and Taelor dedicate the video to their dad, in which they recall heartfelt memories over the years, leading up to their final moments with him. Scott, who gained notoriety as anchor on ESPN and SportsCenter, battled cancer for eight years before he died last year. In the sports world, he coined the phrases like “Booyah!” and “as cool as the other side of the pillow,” but he also used his platform to spread motivation and love to cancer victims and others. “The image that he had always put out was one of strength,” Taelor said.

The video recounts tales of Stuart Scott attending soccer games with critiques and praises as well as teaching Taelor how to use a camera. “The hardest part of losing my dad has been times when I either thought I saw him somewhere and when there are things that I want to tell him,” Sydni recalled.

In the final seconds of the video, the girls pen their father’s words of wisdom and empowerment on their arms, “When you lie, it does not meant hat you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live.”

It’s hard to hold back tears while listening to Taelor and Sydni’s memories, but truly show how Scott was more than just a great businessman, but a great father as well. At the 2014 ESPY Awards, where Scott was honored with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award, he dedicated part of his touching acceptance speech to his daughters. “The best thing I have ever done, the best thing I will ever do, is be a dad to Taelor and Sydni. I love you guys more than I will have be able to express. You two are my heartbeat.”
