Louis C.K. Made Fun of Parkland Survivors and Non-Binary People in Leaked Audio
Louis C.K.'s comeback attempt has been in full-swing for a couple months, and amateur audio from one of his sets was posted online Sunday. And despite his vow to "step back and take a long time to listen" in the wake of revelations of his sexual misconduct, the comedian has decided to criticize school shooting survivors and gender non-conforming people.
Much of the set is devoted to stale grumbling about the gripes of middle age and complaints about the kids these days. "They’re like royalty!” he said of contemporary youth. "They tell you what to call them. ‘You should address me as they/them, because I identify as gender-neutral.’ Oh, OK. You should address me as 'there' because I identify as a location. And the location is your mother’s c**t."
He also made fun of the teenage survivors of the Parkland shooting. "They testify in front of Congress, these kids? What are they doing?," said C.K. "You’re young, you should be crazy, you should be unhinged, not in a suit-you’re not interesting...You didn’t got shot, you pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I’ve gotta listen to you talking?"
Like Aziz Ansari, who has shed his "woke comic" persona after being accused of sexual misconduct and now decries the same progressive culture that once buoyed him, C.K. seems to have abandoned the idea of redemption in favor of a hard turn towards the alt-right-lite. He doesn't seem to care-near the end of the set, he addresses a presumably offended-looking member of the crowd. "What’re you, gonna take away my birthday?" he asks. "My life is over, I don’t give a shit. You can, you can be offended, it’s okay. You can get mad at me."
