Lorde might be an onion ring reviewer on the side
Lorde’s already made her allegiance to chocolate creme eggs known, but the “Perfect Places” singer is a bit more secretive about her affection for onion rings — maybe.
Someone tipped off a writer at New Zealand publication Newshub to an Instagram account titled @onionringsworldwide, which included photos of onion rings and captions reviewing them. Lorde was one of the account’s 24 followers, along with some of her associates. After Newshub contacted Lorde’s management about it, though, the account disappeared. (A rep for the musician did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.)
But the writer was able to do some sleuthing before that: “Every onion ring I encounter, rated,” the bio said. One of the captions read, “Tempura onion ring eaten ceremoniously on plane from Tennessee to New York.” That photo was posted soon after Lorde performed at Tennessee music festival Bonnaroo this past weekend — and, according to the star’s Twitter, she’s now in New York to promote new album Melodrama.
Check out Newshub’s full investigation — complete with screengrabs of the onion rings (including a poorly reviewed one from Burger King) — here. Lorde’s second album, Melodrama, arrives Friday.
