What is Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power about?
Expanding on Season 1, which is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Season 2 of the fantasy series will continue to tell the fabled history of the Second Age of Middle Earth. The Dark Lord Sauron (Charlie Vickers) has fully revealed himself after encountering Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) as a stranger on the run in the beginning of Season 1. Sauron will continue his quest to forge the Rings of Power to force dwarves, ents, elves, harfoots and more to submission.
Who is in Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power?
Aside from those already mentioned, major players Robert Aramayo (Elrond), Ismael Cruz Córdova (Arondir), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Markella Kavenagh (Nori), Megan Richards (Poppy Proudfellow), Owain Arthur (Prince Durin IV) Sophia Nomvete (Princess Disa), Benjamin Walker (High King Gil-galad), Daniel Weyman (The Stranger) and more will return to the fantasy series.
Sam Hazeldine has replaced Joseph Mawle in the role of Adar, leader of Sauron’s Orcs.
Newcomers include Gabriel Akuwudike (Hanna), Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour (The Witcher), Ben Daniels (Jupiter’s Legacy), newcomer Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle (Persuasion), and Nicholas Woodeson (Silent Witness). Oliver Alvin-Wilson (The Bay), Stuart Bowman (The Pact), Gavi Singh Chera (The Undeclared War), William Chubb (Vampire Academy), Kevin Eldon (Game of Thrones), Will Keen (Ridley Road), Selina Lo (Boss Level), and Calam Lynch (Bridgerton).
Rory Kinnear will bring Tom Bombadil to the screens, and Ciarán Hinds will play a new Dark Wizard. Tanya Moodie’s casting was also revealed alongside Hinds and Kinnear’s before their roles were specified.
