'That looks wrong': David Beckham criticized for kissing daughter Harper on the lips

David and Victoria Beckham can’t kiss their kids without it being a thing.

It was familiar terrain when the former soccer star posted a pic from a festive ice-skating adventure with his 7-year-old daughter, Harper. “Christmas is coming. Let’s go skate [heart],” he captioned the shot, which showed him puckering up to his youngest child.

This triggered an online debate over whether he should be kissing his child on the lips. “That looks wrong,” was an early criticism that sparked a whole to-do. And it wasn’t the only negative comment — not by a long shot. “Disgusting,” someone else wrote. Then there was: “This is not appropriate” and “She’s your daughter. .why are you kissing on her lips..?..that’s ur wife kiss…” Another critic added this snarky comment: “Did he have his daughters consent?” And one person suggested it should be reported to authorities: “Yes officer…… This post right here.”

The haters were quickly schooled, though, and there were more positive comments than negative. Many found it “beautiful.” One person wrote, “Y’all act like if they were making out or something.” Others questioned what type of relationship the critics had with their own fathers. “Wow people are really this close minded and pathetic? Is it that their fathers beat them, neglected them or deprived them of parental love & affection? This world is truly a sad place smfh,” someone wrote. Others had zero tolerance for the nonsense, with one person writing, “Anyone who thinks this is wrong should drown themselves…humanity no longer needs your services…you are wasting air.”

The most high-profile defense came from fellow sportsman Tom Brady, who has made his own headlines for kissing his kids. “Dad and daughter. So sweet!” the NFL star wrote. Of course, that led to him being targeted with comments from haters: “Just like you and yo son makin out,” someone wrote.

People just like to criticize celebrity photos though. Beckham was also griped at for having in earbuds for the skate session with Harper. “Cute but why you got headphones in during daddy and daughter time?” wrote one person, highlighting a sentiment expressed by many.

The Beckhams have a lot of people weighing in on their biz. In 2017, practically the same thing happened after this photo was posted.

At the time, David unapologetically said via Facebook Live that he is “very affectionate” with his kids — and that that’s how he was brought up. “I got actually criticized for kissing my daughter on the lips the other day. I kiss all my kids on the lips,” he explained. “We want to show our kids love, and we protect them, look after them and support them, and we’re very affectionate with them.”

David isn’t the only target. Victoria was also bashed for a kissing Harper, who was 5 at the time, on the lips. She’s also been criticized for taking Brooklyn, 19, as her “date” to an event — and posing alongside him.
