Longlegs Gets Rave Reviews Out of Early Screenings
A film slowly creeping up on people's radar is Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage from the director of Gretel & Hansel.
Oz Perkins's fourth feature is heading to theaters next month, and as early reactions roll in across social media, curiosity is piquing for what people say is "the most terrifying film of the year".
The official synopsis reads:
In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.
Longlegs hits theaters on July 12, and people who have already seen the film warn audiences that it is "100 hundred minutes of unrelenting, intense, and overwhelming dread".
Other critics are saying the film feels as though it was "forged in Hell by Satan" with a performance from Nicolas Cage that is "blood-chilling".
It’s as if #Longlegs was forged in Hell by Satan, who brought it as an artifact into our world as a gift. Osgood Perkins’ film is the real fucking shit. Mischievous, steadied tension build, SCARY & SICK AF. Maika Monroe is terrific. Nicolas Cage is in pure weirdo mode. pic.twitter.com/ilz5S7aSuA

#LONGLEGS is the textbook definition of spine-tingling & legitimately had me on the verge of tears in terror. This isn’t your dollar store jump scare fear - this that get under your skin & stays lurking fear. I instinctually blessed myself twice during act 3. Don’t see it alone. pic.twitter.com/6pDZg6rOSF

I spent last night in an intense panic while watching Osgood Perkins' #LONGLEGS.
100 hundred minutes of unrelenting, intense, and overwhelming dread. Powered by an intensely angular performance from Maika Monroe and Nic Cage let fully off the leash.

You think you've seen Nic Cage do it all and then you see #Longlegs and discover there is truly no place he won't go. He's remarkably unsettling (and funny) in the film, which takes a fairly standard serial killer story and cranks the atmosphere of dread up to 11. pic.twitter.com/YOqcKVrLWS
