Liv Tyler is a proud mom to three children: sons Milo and Sailor, and daughter Lula.
The Leftovers actress welcomed her first child, son Milo, with then-husband Roy Langdon in 2004. The pair split four years later. In 2014, Tyler began dating sports agent David Gardner and the former couple have since welcomed two children together: son Sailor in 2015 and daughter Lula the following year. While Tyler and the sports agent got engaged in 2015, they split in 2021.
In addition to growing up with a famous mom, Tyler’s two younger children also have quite a well-known godfather: soccer legend David Beckham, who is friends with Gardner.

For the actress, motherhood has played a key role in helping her to better understand herself and what she’s capable of. “My favorite thing about being a parent is that I learn so much from the push-and-pull dynamic of mother and child,” she told More magazine in 2015. “Having children, I learned about my own strength.”
Tyler also told Elle Mexico in 2007 that motherhood was “the best thing I’ve ever done in my life."
In March 2023, Tyler shared a sweet photo of her family spending time together, with all three of her kids enjoying an outdoor adventure.
Here is everything to know about Liv Tyler’s three children: Milo, Sailor and Lula.
Milo William Langdon, 19
Tyler and her then-husband Langdon welcomed Milo on Dec. 14, 2004, in New York City.
The new mom told Elle Mexico a few years later that Milo was given his moniker because it just suited him. “We thought a lot [about] the name, but when he was born, we decided he looked like a Milo — that’s the reason,” she told the outlet.
Speaking to Crash about the beauty of motherhood, Tyler said that watching Milo “grow up and learn is quite simply the most beautiful and incredible miracle that I’ve ever known.”
At the time, he was 4 years old and loved “castles, dragons [and] knights.” Capitalizing on his interest, she introduced him to her career-launching role as Arwen in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. “So mommy was a real princess,” she recalled him saying, adding that he only watched the beginning.
While Tyler stepped out of the spotlight for the first two years of his life in order to focus on motherhood, she later returned to acting. “I didn’t find it that complicated because I love acting, I love my job and I have had the advantage that I could take Milo with me,” Tyler told the outlet.
As he grew up, The Ledge actress struggled with balancing her work and her home life. “I didn’t see how I could go away for three months to make a film and be the mother I wanted to be,” Tyler told More magazine when Milo was 10. But the pre-teen insisted, she revealed. “Mommy, I want you to go forth and make some movies,” she recalled him saying.
The Harlots star occasionally shares photos of Milo on her Instagram: in July 2022, Tyler shared an adorable image of the pair hugging in matching hats. In the photo, her oldest towers over her; she playfully called him “my giant love” in the caption and wrote that he gives “the greatest hug you can imagine.”
Marking Milo's 16th birthday in December 2020, Tyler reflected on how much he’s grown up, calling him “truly a young man now.”
She wrote: “He is 6 foot 2 inches, Hilarious, Smart , ??touching and kind !!!!! the best big brother , always makes time to snuggle and play with all of us.” Tyler went on to call him “the best listener and advisor,” with “a twist of magic in everything he says and does.”
In June 2023, Milo graduated from The Thacher School in Ojai, Calif. "What a journey !! so SO soooo proud of you Milo ??," Tyler wrote on Instagram in honor of her son's big day.
Sailor Gene Gardner, 9
Tyler welcomed her second son — her first child with then-partner Gardner — on Feb. 11, 2015, six weeks early.
“He’s healthy and everyone is very happy,” her rep confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE. Named after the hero in Barry Gifford’s novel Wild at Heart, Sailor’s early arrival meant his dad was unable to make it to his birth — so Tyler’s father, rock legend Steven Tyler, and her sister Mia Tyler showed up to support her through her labor.

“Never in a million years would [I] have thought I’d give birth with my dad and my sister, but it was actually really sweet because ... we were laughing a lot,” Tyler said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, adding that the Aerosmith frontman was actually the one to cut the umbilical cord.
Sailor is a doting big brother to his sister Lula, often posing affectionately in photos with her or twinning in matching outfits on his parents’ Instagrams. But early on, his eagerness required some extra attention, Tyler told PEOPLE.
“We’re just trying to keep [Lula] alive!” she said. “[Sailor] wants to pull on her little bassinet. I have to watch him so closely, but he says ‘baabyyy’ — one of his first clear words, which is cute.”
To celebrate his 8th birthday in 2023, Tyler shared photos of Sailor grinning over macaron-topped cupcakes and cuddling their dog, as well as a shot of a two-tiered cake that featured an airplane and birds flying in the clouds.
Lula Rose Gardner, 7
Tyler and Gardner welcomed Lula Rose on July 8, 2016.
The proud mom announced her little one’s arrival on Instagram, sharing a photo of her then-fiancé cuddling their newborn. “Hello!!!!! our beautiful baby girl is here !!!! Lula Rose Gardner we are sooooo happy heart exploding with love !!!!!” Tyler captioned the shot.
Like her brother Sailor, Lula is also named after a main character in Wild at Heart, which Tyler referenced in a 2022 Instagram post that showed her two younger kids playing together. “Living up to their names , they are wild at heart,” she wrote in the caption.
Lula’s arrival heralded a whole new level of joy for Tyler. “I’m completely blissed out. Sitting with all the children and David, I literally keep pinching myself, going, ‘Am I dreaming? This is amazing,’ ” she told PEOPLE.
In addition to the joy came a fair share of chaos, Tyler admitted. “It’s a whole new world, juggling four!” she said, noting that “everyone is chipping in” and that Lula’s older brothers loved to hold her. “It’s so sweet,” she added.
Tyler shared an intimate black-and-white photo of herself breastfeeding Lula soon after her birth, calling the experience of nursing “beautiful and natural” and insisted that “there should be no stigma” around it.
To celebrate her daughter’s 4th birthday in 2020, Tyler shared a series of adorable photos of Lula smiling wide, calling her “the love of my life.”
“This smile says is all. You light up the whole world,” the mom of three wrote. “You are a shooting star , Filled with so much pure joy , love , kindness and magic. I thank my lucky stars every day you chose me to be your mommy.”
