Mary Steenburgen says she's the 'luckiest mother' after son Charlie McDowell weds Lily Collins

Lily Collins is officially married!

After one year of engagement, the "Emily in Paris" star revealed Tuesday that she and writer/director Charlie McDowell tied the knot with a sweet wedding photo.

"I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife. On September 4th, 2021 we officially became each other’s forever. I love you beyond @charliemcdowell," Collins wrote alongside a photo of the two kissing.

McDowell also shared a series of wedding photos, featuring the two in a romantic Colorado ceremony surrounded by trees. In one pic, the duo is seen kissing beside a fairytale-like waterfall in Dunton Hot Springs.

"I married the most generous, thoughtful, and beautiful person I’ve ever known. I love you," wrote McDowell, the son of actors Mary Steenburgen and Malcolm McDowell.

Steenburgen said she feels like "the luckiest mother in the world" in a sweet Instagram tribute Tuesday after welcoming "my daughter-in-law" to the family.

"Thank you for letting us all bask in the sheer beauty of your love for each other," the Academy Award-winning actress captioned a picture of the newlyweds, which adorably included designer and location tags over the photo. "My heart is overflowing and it almost feels like the last few days were some sort of beautiful dream."

McDowell commented: "Mom, next time I get married just ask for the photo instead of posting a screenshot with the tags showing. Also I love you."

Celebrities took to the comments to congratulate the newlyweds, with "Modern Family" actress Sarah Hyland writing "YASSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Congrats," Eiza González commented alongside heart and balloon emojis.

"Congratulations!!!" Natalia Bryant added.

"How beautiful!!!" wrote tennis superstar Maria Sharapova.

"What a beautiful picture ! So happy for y’all!" Reese Witherspoon commented on McDowell's post.

Collins announced her engagement to McDowell with a pair of Instagram posts last September. Reports of the couple dating first surfaced that summer

"I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together..." she captioned a series of pictures, one with McDowell down on one knee.

In October, Collins reflected on the proposal, which happened while the pair were on a desert road trip, in an interview with USA TODAY in October.

"I am just completely over the moon and so excited," she said at the time. "I am so excited to be his fiancée, and it was a magical experience that I’ll just never forget."

"I just keep referencing it as this deep knowing feeling where I feel I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, with the person I’m supposed to be with, feeling the way I’m supposed to feel," she continued. "It’s just that knowing feeling that takes over your whole body, and just being uncontrollably happy. My cheeks just kept hurting, and I feel very grateful."
