Leslie Jones Slays at Her 49th Birthday Bash (Take That, Haters)

Leslie Jones turned 49 on Wednesday and celebrated not at a birthday party, but with a slayday party. Makes sense — after all, she does “slay all day.”

The Saturday Night Live cast member, who is probably happy to say goodbye to 48 after a year of high highs and low lows, marked the day by getting glam, having dinner and a “Chyeah” cake with friends (including Kenan Thompson), and then hitting a club. The NYC-based comedian detailed it all in a very Lesdogggg kind of way.

The Ghostbusters star has said she celebrates the week of her birthday, so it was no surprise this was her first post of the day:

Her cake was very Leslie too. It was a magician’s hat with “Happy birthday, Lesdogggg” on the front. On the top was a Rolling Stone cover with her “Block Bitch” meme from her Twitter drama and “She’s Still Got That Red-Hot Magic.” It also had thought bubbles that said, “Chyeah,” which we heard a lot from her during the Rio Olympics.

When she got home, she made some videos to sum up the night. She said at first she “felt old” because she was just going to have a nice dinner, but then they went clubbing. And she gave a special shout-out to the DJ, who was “so chocolate”:

She ended with this one. “That’s kinda what I wanted on my birthday anyway — I wanted someone to stagger up to me and be like, ‘It’s your birthday, b****,’ and it happened, so that’s awesome,” she said. But she concluded on a more serious note. “Thank y’all for all the well wishes and just everything,” she said. “Ya know — just trying to make it through the crazy life of Leslie Jones.”

Jones, who may have the worst Internet trolls of any celebrity, was the victim of a nasty online hack last month, when someone posted nude photos of her and personal documents on her website. Homeland Security is investigating the invasive breach. While she took a brief break from social media, she returned over the weekend, writing, “I always get back up.”

We’re glad she did. It was nice spending her birthday with her — even if it was virtually.
