Law Roach Explains Why He Stopped Styling Keke Palmer
Law Roach revealed why he no longer works as a stylist for Keke Palmer. While discussing his new book, How to Build a Fashion Icon: Notes on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect with the actress on Wednesday, both shared the honest conversation they had about their chemistry.
“So when me and Keke started working, we worked together years and years and years ago,” Roach shared with PEOPLE Magazine. “It didn’t quite work out, but we always loved each other. It was always love. It was always love.”
He continued to detail he began working as Palmer’s stylist around the time she was pregnant with her son Leodis “Leo” Andrellton and added, “I’m like, ‘Oh, let’s show the baby bump.'”
The 46-year-old continued to explain, “I’m bringing all these clothes, and I could never get the clothes right. And one time she actually called me, she said, ‘You might be the best stylist in the world, but you’re not the best stylist for me.’ I fu**ing love it.”
The Hustlers actress added, “Law lives for a drag.”
As the conversation continued, Roach explained, “But she was right though because, in my mind, I had this idea of how I wanted to present her. I wanted her to be proud of the baby bump and show it off. And it was her personal prerogative, she didn’t want to give it to the world yet.”
How to Build a Fashion Icon: Notes on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect is the Chicago native’s first book and was published on Tuesday.
Cavalier House Books describes the work as follows:
“Part self-help guide, part manifesto, this book guides readers step-by-step through that process, and along the way, Law weaves in personal anecdotes—from his childhood in the Southside of Chicago to the first time he styled Zendaya—with practical exercises to help readers cultivate the most essential feature of iconic style: confidence.“
