Lara Trump was 'insulted' by Joe Biden's pledge to name a woman as his VP: 'Let’s not worry about qualifications'
Last week’s announcement that former Vice President Joe Biden had selected Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate on the Democratic ticket appears to have fired up the Trump campaign. On Wednesday, Jenna Ellis, a senior legal adviser for President Donald Trump, compared Harris’s voice to Marge Simpson — prompting a response from the animated Simpsons matriarch. And on Saturday night, the president’s daughter-in-law and campaign adviser, Lara Trump, told Fox News host Jeanine Pirro that she was “insulted” by Biden’s decision to choose a woman as his VP.
Appearing on Justice with Judge Jeanine, Trump argued that Biden’s pledge in March to run with a female vice presidential candidate was about “identity politics,” not equality.
“I have found it very interesting that the mainstream media and the people on the left think that the women in this country, Judge Jeanine, are stupid,” said Trump, wife of the president’s second-born son, Eric. “Apparently, they forgot that the identity politics they tried to play in 2016, when they suggested that women should vote for someone named Hillary Clinton because she was a woman, didn’t work then, it’s not going to work now.
“I for one was insulted when months ago Joe Biden came out and he said, ‘Guess what? It’s going to be a woman who’s my running mate.’ Let’s not worry about qualifications, let’s not worry about what they bring to the table,” continued the mother of two, who has helped spearhead the campaign’s Women for Trump tour. “If these people want to stand up for equality, people in this country will never be fully equal in their eyes until they stop pandering for votes and playing identity politics.
“It didn’t even matter who it was going to be,” she concluded. “Women were already insulted.”

Following a remark from Pirro about people mispronouncing Harris’s first name, Trump did just that as she wrote off the California senator’s impact on the race.
“It’s still Joe Biden ... at the top of the ticket,” she told Pirro.
Trump’s comments have caused controversy online, with critics accusing her of sexism.
At least one 2020 figure is welcoming Harris into the race. Kanye West, who has launched his own presidential bid, tweeted “love and respect” to the Democrat on Saturday, adding that “it’s an honor to run against you.”
