Kristy Swanson tells 'Glee' actor to go back to Canada after he insults Trump: '1-way ticket to America's Hat'
Kristy Swanson is clashing with a British Columbia-born actor over politics, with the Trump-supporting Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress offering to buy him a one-way flight back to Canada — which she dubbed “America’s Hat” — “if you’re so embarrassed by our country that is putting food on your table.”
Swanson, who recently starred in a pro-Trump production alongside fellow conservative Dean Cain, took offense to tweets posted by actor Patrick Gallagher, who is best known for playing Coach Tanaka in Glee and Attila the Hun in the Night at the Museum series. Gallagher, who is Canadian but holds U.S. citizenship, is a vocal critic of Trump, tweeting comments like, “We have one of the worst human beings in America as POTUS … Sorry are we great yet?”
Swanson took offense to the Trump tweets and fired back with a jab at Gallagher’s acting career and an invitation for him to return to his birthplace.
You are a Canadian making a living as an “actor” in The United States Of America. If you’re so embarrassed by our Country that is putting food on your table, I’d be more than happy to purchase your 1 Way ticket back to America’s Hat 🇨🇦 https://t.co/EmYWtQrW77

As Swanson’s MAGA-backing fans piled on, Gallagher responded by calling her a “diva” when they worked together. Though IMDB lists a different Patrick Gallagher for the production, Swanson later explained that he was a “local Canadian hire” playing a truck driver in her 1997 film, Bad to the Bone, in which she starred as a “bad girl” trying to have her lover killed.
You were a diva and rude when I worked with you… Looks like you haven’t changed gotten any more class

A film that was shot in Canada, in Toronto. You were a local Canadian hire & worked under a Canadian contract. The movie was called “Bad To The Bone” you played (trucker). Sorry to hear you thought I was a diva & rude in that scene 🤷🏼?♀? Production schedule was a real tough one 😕🇨🇦 https://t.co/Zffuh8WQJb

Gallagher went on to accuse Swanson for “sticking [her] troll army” on him and mocked her “typical Trumpster class and thin skin.”
Didn’t even bother to do the research..I’m an American citizen..typical troll with the “a...typical Trumpster class and thin skin #pathetic https://t.co/nxq3Ua57dS

Very classy sicking and your troll army on me… Pathetic

It’s not a contest..I don’t really care what a bunch of anonymous trolls and weak ass bullies think..but thanks:)

He also blocked Swanson, who insisted that she “simply stuck up for America with class,” accusing him of trying to “play the victim.”
I’m good with this 👍🏼 pic.twitter.com/PcUqILsyNa

I simply stuck up for America with class while keeping a sense of humor about it. If you want to play victim that you got trolled, that’s on you. https://t.co/ZBE4C2SSaI pic.twitter.com/z1if1IwmRr

While Swanson got support from fans trolling Gallagher — who has recently acted in Dirty John, Siren, Captain Marvel, The Twilight Zone and the upcoming American Princess — her reference to Canada as “America’s Hat” wasn’t entirely well-received. Swanson defended the nickname by noting that her husband, former figure skater Lloyd Eisler, is a “proud Canadian.”
Both Countries are in North America. My saying America’s Hat was just a cheeky way of trying to keep the tweet lighthearted. I ran it by my Proud Canadian husband first & he felt it added some light humor to the situation, so he approved. 👍🏼🇨🇦??🇺🇸 https://t.co/lKzaTNesTX
