Kristin Chenoweth says being a Christian in show business has been an 'interesting journey'
Kristin Chenoweth says her strategy for life is, “What would Jesus do?”
The Glee actress and singer broached the subject during an appearance Monday on Fox and Friends, when she was asked to speak about her faith.
“Well, I’m a Christian person, and I never thought that was interesting or different at all until I moved to New York and started understanding that there are a lot of people with a lot of faiths and that’s when my respect for that started,” said Chenoweth, who grew up in Oklahoma.
She added, “It’s been an interesting journey, being in show business and being a Christian.”
Chenoweth noted that she’s also an LGBTQ activist.
“And sometimes that doesn’t always go together, you know?” she said. “But I just keep trying to say, ‘What would Jesus do?’ and that’s the way I live my life. I’m not perfect. I mess up a lot, but I’m certainly happy I have my faith.”
The Tony Award-winning performer was on the show to promote her Christmas concert with the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which features her singing Christmas classics alongside hundreds of other musicians.
Chenoweth’s Christmas schedule this year also includes the Hallmark movie A Christmas Love Story, in which she plays a youth choir director, which debuted Saturday.
