Kristen Bell reunites with Leighton Meester for 'Gossip Girl' parody at SAG Awards

Kristen Bell took a trip down memory lane while hosting the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
During Sunday's awards ceremony, Bell staged surprise reunions with several of her former co-stars, including Leighton Meester from "Gossip Girl." Bell served as narrator of the CW show.
In a comedy bit between awards, Bell provided a voiceover purporting to reveal juicy gossip about the various nominees in the room, including Jeff Goldblum and Timothée Chalamet.
The punchline? All of the gossip was about the food the actors like to eat. As the show cut to Bell reading from a phone while seated next to Meester, the "Good Place" star turned to her and said, "Leighton, none of this is gossip. It's just all about food."
"I'm sorry," Meester replied. "I'm just really hungry."
Bell quipped that the "popes in 'Conclave' were better at gossiping than us," so "we should pass the torch," transitioning into the cast of "Conclave" presenting their film. Bell jokingly dubbed the movie about the election of a pope "Gossip Girl 2.0."

"Gossip Girl," which aired on The CW from 2007 to 2012, was named after the pseudonym used by a blogger whose identity is unknown. Meester starred as Blair Waldorf opposite Blake Lively. In 2021, the show was revived for a short-lived reboot on Max, with Bell returning as narrator. It was canceled after two seasons.
The reunion came after the recent revelation that Meester joined the cast of the second season of Bell's romantic comedy "Nobody Wants This." The show also stars Adam Brody, Meester's husband.
Biggest moments from the SAG Awards, from Timothée Chalamet to Colin Farrell
The "Gossip Girl" bit was one of numerous reunions that occurred throughout the SAG Awards, several involving Bell. She also reunited with Ted Danson and William Jackson Harper from "The Good Place" for a bit where they argued over who is her favorite co-star. The competition escalated until they started to recreate the three-way kissing scene from "Challengers" before Bell stopped them.
Bell also reunited with Jason Segel, her co-star in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." They recreated a scene from the romantic comedy where Segel's character wears only a towel, though Bell joked this didn't have quite the same effect with the actor wearing the towel over his suit.
The ceremony also featured cast reunions that didn't involve Bell, including one with "The X-Files" stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Their bit involved them riffing about the importance of chemistry between co-stars, while themselves demonstrating poor chemistry.
"Hilarious!" Anderson said sarcastically after their bit ended. "We did that so well."
Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield also had a "New Girl" reunion. While presenting a category, the two joked about the success of their former co-star Lamorne Morris, who won an Emmy in September for "Fargo." After Deschanel asked Greenfield if he has spoken to Morris recently, Greenfield joked it's "been challenging since, you know, the Emmy."
