What to know about Hinterland Music Festival 2023 from Bon Iver and Zach Bryan

Hinterland Music Festival is returning to the hills of Saint Charles for three days of live music and good times.

The festival returns to three days after expanding to a four-day lineup for 2022.

Scheduled for Aug. 4 through Aug. 6, this year's lineup boasts more than 30 performers. One-day passes range from $100 to $150, three-day passes are $250 or $550 for VIP and a three-day SAINTS pass id $1,500 and includes tent camping, parking, free drinks, access to VIP, catered meals and more.

What is Hinterland?

Hinterland is a multi-day music festival put on by Sam Summers, who owns Wooly's in the East Village and the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines. Summers originally launched the music festival in 2015. Since, he's attracted artists such as Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Hozier, Maggie Rogers, Sturgill Simpson, TV on the Radio, Brandi Carlile, Dwight Yoakam and Tyler Childers.

Where is Hinterland Music Festival?

Hinterland Music Festival is held at Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in Saint Charles, about 31 miles south of Des Moines on Interstate Highway 35.

What can I bring to Hinterland?

Festival-goers can bring empty water bottles or camel packs, blankets, legless chairs, backpacks, digital cameras, sunblock, bug spray, strollers, masks and hand sanitizer, according to festival organizers.

On the list of things not permitted are chairs, smoking, glass, Styrofoam, drones, drugs, laser pointers, knives, weapons, fireworks, professional cameras, sun tents, umbrellas, coolers, wagons, outside food, and pets, except service animals.

How much do Hinterland tickets cost?

Single-day tickets start at $100. Three-day tickets start at $250. Hinterland also has VIP tickets with food options, camping options, and more. Find tickets online.
