Kid Capri Blasts Travis Scott For Refusing To Sign Fan’s Autograph: “That Sh*t Was Super Corny”
Kid Capri has blasted Travis Scott for the rapper’s mistreatment of a fan asking for his autograph.
In a clip uploaded by AllHipHop, Scott is seen stopping to sign fans’ copies of his albums and other merchandise amid his travels. However, prior to autographing one fan’s vinyl copy of one of his albums, the rapper quizzes him on the title of his debut mixtape in an attempt to see how well the kid knows his discography.
When the fan fails to come up with the correct answer, Scott glances at him disapprovingly, pulls back his marker and leaves without signing the fans’ vinyl. Upon catching wind of the footage, Kid Capri took to social media to express his displeasure with Scott’s behavior towards the fan, deeming his actions as “corny.”
The Bronx native chided Scott for not obliging the fans’ request, pointing to Scott’s modest beginnings while weighing in on his seeming mishandling of the encounter.
“Hey, yo, Travis Scott,” Capri began while addressing the Houston native. “When we start being disrespectful to kids, bro? Little kid asked you for an autograph, pushed his hand away, looked at him like he was the devil and just walked away from him. At one time, you would’ve wanted somebody to ask you for an autograph or asked you for a picture or whatever it is he asked you for.”
Capri then pointed to Scott’s own lowlights, particularly the deadly Astroworld Festival tragedy in which multiple people died as a result of a crowd rush, as reasons for him to be more patient and gracious towards his supporters.
“Celebs, get where they getting and they forget,” he said. “You know what I’m saying? Like dog, like 10 people died at one of your concerts. I would try to be as humble as possible. I’m not saying it’s your fault, but I would try to be as humble as possible when it comes to the fans, bro, they lift you up.”
The spinner continued, adding that the clip was not an isolated incident and that Scott has built a track record for distasteful behavior. “This ain’t the first time I seen you do some sh*tt that was funny style,” he said.
“You know what I’m saying? As a little kid, and it pi**es me off to see that. Cause I come from signing every autograph, taking every picture, doing video drops for people. We would’ve wished people asked us for that when we wasn’t on.”
The 57-year-old acknowledged that he may lack an amount of popularity comparable to Scott, but that his lack of compassion towards the fan in questionable was unacceptable, particularly due to him being underage.
“I’m not at your level, but I’m at Kid Capri level and I respect the fans,” Capri said. “That right there was crazy. I’m not saying you got to sign everybody’s thing or do what everybody say, but when it comes to little kids, they look at you as a superhero, bro, that sh*t right there was super, super corny.”
He continued, adding, “Y’all make what y’all going to make,” referencing Scott’s fortune and lifestyle. “Y’all get what y’all going to get. And y’all forget the people that helped y’all get there, even if they didn’t help you get there. Be humble. Be glad that you’re in that position.”
While Capri admitted to being a fan of Scott’s musicality and success, he maintained that the artist’s accolades did not absolve him from criticism regarding his conduct. “I think you’re a real talented dude. Dope producer, dope rapper, dope businessman, all that. But that sh*t ain’t got nothing to do. When you treat people beneath you don’t give f**k who you are.”
