Kendrick Lamar Gets Memed For Smiling While Rapping Drake Line In “Not Like Us” At Super Bowl
Kendrick Lamar seized the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on Sunday night (Feb. 10) with a performance full of storytelling, a few easter eggs, and of course, shots at Drake.
While delivering the electrifying performance—which included SZA and DJ Mustard—K. Dot ran through a medley of his biggest hits including the fan fave “Not Like Us.”
Teasing the song throughout his set, Kendrick built anticipation before launching into the track that sent the entire Caesars Superdome through the roof. When arriving at the line referencing his nemesis Drake, he locked eyes with the camera and gave a diabolical smile, which has now become a meme.
The subtle yet unmistakable move instantly became one of the most talked-about moments of the night, sparking posts all across social media. But the speculation didn’t stop there. As Kendrick performed, some viewers assumed his iced-out lowercase “a” pendant was a nod to his “a minor” line, whereas others pointed out it simply stood for his label, pgLang.
Every detail of Kendrick’s performance was intentional from his song choices to the American flag themed set, to even having Samuel Jackson play Uncle Sam.
Serena Williams, Drake’s ex, also popped out doing the C-walk, making it even more clear the GNX impresario had a point to prove.
