Keeping Up With ‘The Baldwins’: Alec Baldwin Reflects on ‘Rust’ in Trailer
A reality TV series documenting the life of Alec Baldwin, his wife Hilaria, their seven kids, and their six pets, is headed to TLC next month. The Baldwins tackles both family hysteria and the Hollywood headlines surrounding the 30 Rock star. The first episode takes place in East Hampton as the couple’s son, Rafael, celebrates his ninth birthday. The premiere also delves into Baldwin’s 2024 western Rust and its subsequent involuntary manslaughter case. In the trailer, released Monday, Alec Baldwin gets emotional as Hilaria Baldwin reflects on the Rust shooting.
“A son lost his mom in the most unthinkable tragedy,” Hilaria Baldwin says in the 60-second clip. “This is never something to forget, and we’re trying to parent through it.”

While on the Rust set in October 2021, Alec Baldwin allegedly fired a prop gun loaded with a live bullet, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Since Hutchins’ death, Baldwin pleaded not guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge in January 2024, with the western’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed sentenced to 18 months in prison for the slaying in April.
“I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you and these kids,” Alec Baldwin says in the clip.
TLC has infamously launched shows with larger than average families; see Kate Plus 8, 7 Little Johnstons, Outdaughtered, and Doubling Down With the Derricos. Much like the former, The Baldwins documents their maddening, exhausting, yet fun-loving approach to parenting as well as their partnership that began more than a decade ago. The couple tied the knot in June 2012 and Tina Fey, Woody Allen, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Lorne Michaels made the guest list. The series premieres Feb. 23.
“This series gives viewers a glimpse into our lives as a family — the good, bad, wild, and everything in between,” Hilaria and Alec Baldwin said in a joint statement. “We hope viewers will connect with our experiences and the love we share. Filming the show has been an amazing journey, and we’re proud to have TLC as a partner in telling our story.”
