KCON 2015 Expands to Three Days, Moves to Staples Center
After Billboard gave the exclusive first tease that major KCON news was coming this week, North America’s biggest K-pop festival has announced it’s growing even larger.
After three years of exponential growth — which included more than doubling its attendance in 2014 — KCON 2015 will add another day of festivities, growing to a three-day festival now taking place in Los Angeles’ Staples Center from July 31 through Aug. 2.

According to a press release, KCON 2015 will hold its convention of “all things Hallyu” (or, all things related to the Korean wave) with panels, workshops, food and more. It adds “some of the world’s biggest stars” will perform at the Staples Center on August 1 and 2, possibly indicating a lineup that could expand further than strictly K-pop. (In 2013, Missy Elliot performed a short set and later debuted a new song collaboration with headliner G-Dragon.)
KCON 2014 Day 1: G-Dragon, IU, B1A4 & More Rock L.A.
After debuting as a one-day convention in 2012, KCON grew to a two-day, two-concert extravaganza boasting more 42,000 attendees in 2014. Last year’s fest brought out popular acts like G-Dragon, Girls’ Generation, IU and CNBLUE along popular Korean actors including Lee Seung Gi and Yoo In Na. The festival has also grown overseas with the first KCON Japan coming on April 22, boasting a lineup with INFINITE, Sistar, GOT7, Block B and more.
A new trailer also seems to tease a potential expansion for KCON, ending with a mysterious image of an apple before cutting to a “To Be Continued” message. Is KCON coming to the Big Apple?
