Kate Bosworth Set To Star In ‘SS-GB’ For The BBC
EXCLUSIVE:
Kate Bosworth, who will next be seen opposite Robert De Niro in this fall’s action thriller Heist, has just been set to star in the new, period drama SS-GB for the BBC. The drama is likely to end up being a five-part limited series so the part is substantial. She will star in the role Barbara Barga alongside Sam Riley who is set lay the role of Archer.
Based on the novel by Len Deighton and adapted by screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the story takes place in London 1941 and a ‘what-would-have-happened-if’ scenario. The novel, published in 1978, was a popular book and has become an iconic alternate history tome.
Given that Purvis and Wade wrote the last six James Bond films, the series is likely to be action-packed. The storyline is “imagine a time when the Battle of Britain is lost, Winston Churchill is dead, King George is held prisoner by the SS, the possibility of imminent military rule is a constant, pockets of Resistance continue to present a threat and neighbors spy on neighbors.” BBC ordered up the drama late last year.
Bosworth was just seen in the faith-based 90 Minutes in Heaven. Her other credits include the critical favorite Still Alice which starred Julianne Moore and the upcoming original television series The Art of More for Sony/Crackle opposite Dennis Quaid this fall.
Bosworth is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
