June 11th, 2024, marks the 25th anniversary of the release of Juvenile’s seminal song, “Back That Azz Up,” and to celebrate the occasion, he’s announced a massive North American tour. Additionally, the city of New Orleans has declared June 11th, 2024, “Back That Azz Up Day.”
Kicking off on July 7th in New Orleans, the “Back That Azz Up 25th Anniversary Tour” will take Juvenile all across the country, making stops in New York, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and many more cities. The shows will run through the end of December, ending with a final performance in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve. Check out the full list of dates below.
A ticket pre-sale for the “Back That Azz Up 25th Anniversary Tour” is now ongoing via Ticketmaster (use code CHORD). A general on-sale will then open on June 15th at 10:00 a.m. local time, after which fans can look for deals or grab tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub, where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program.
“I am beyond excited to celebrate 25 years of ‘Back That Azz Up’ with my fans,” Juvenile said in a statement. “This song has been a huge part of my musical journey, and it’s amazing to see it still resonate with people today and I can’t wait for the moment each night of the tour when the song drops.”
Continuing, Juvenile expressed his appreciation for his fans even further. “One thing about me that’s different from other artists is that I really do listen to my fans,” he said. “And my fans turn out to really know what’s best for me. They are the ones who made me do Tiny Desk. I hadn’t even heard of NPR to be honest. Then they took to the internet and demanded shows in their cities with the band. God is great and my fans sold all of those shows out. That’s why we are going on tour of the rest of the country.”
As for the city of New Orleans’ declaration, Mayor LaToya Cantrell issued a proclamation praising how it has “transcended its roots to become a cultural phenomenon, celebrated for its infectious beat and memorable lyrics that continue to resonate with generations.”
