Justin Timberlake: 'Can't Stop the Feeling' wouldn't exist without my son

Justin Timberlake released a hit solo single in May ahead of starring two new films slated for release later this year, but the performer credits his growing list of entertainment endeavors to two people: his wife, Jessica Biel, and 1-year-old son, Silas.

During Tuesday's episode of NBC's Today, which featured an interview with the pop superstar taped at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, where he promoted the Jonathan Demme-directed concert film Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids in September, Timberlake revealed the birth of his son gave him a new outlook on creating music.

"It changes everything," Timberlake said of the influence Silas and Biel have had his personal and professional life. He went on to joke: "You literally wake up and look in the mirror and go, 'I have no idea what I’m doing.'"

Timberlake also revealed he "never would have written a song like 'Can't Stop the Feeling,'" which became his fifth non-*NSYNC No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May, if it hadn't been for Silas.

"I don’t know that it was directly inspired to be something that my son could listen to of mine, because there’s a lot of music he can’t listen to of mine – at least not yet," he said. "It’s crazy, this new appreciation [I have] for both of them – her and him. It’s humiliating and humbling at the same time."

Speaking on the upcoming concert film, Timberlake said he was nervous for others to watch because he didn't feel like he was "hiding behind a character" during production.

"There is something a little more personal about the way Jonathan captured us," Timberlake, 35, said of the work the Oscar-winning director behind The Silence of the Lambs did to capture the authenticity of the rapport he has with his backing band, the Tennessee Kids. "I feel really proud of the people I shared the stage with... they’re so important to me and every bit the star of this movie."
