Also set for nationwide release on Oct. 17, when After the Hunt is scheduled to go wide, are Universal’s horror sequel The Black Phone 2 and Lionsgate’s Aziz Ansari-directed comedy Good Fortune that stars Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer.
Hailing from Imagine Entertainment, After the Hunt focuses on a college professor (Roberts) who is forced to confront her own dark past when a prominent student (Edebiri) makes an accusation against one of her colleagues (Garfield).
Guadagnino helmed the movie from a script by Nora Garrett. Serving as producers are Guadagnino, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody and Allan Mandelbaum. Imagine’s Mandelbaum brought the script to the production company and worked with CAA to land Roberts and Guadagnino.
After the Hunt reunites Guadagnino with Amazon MGM Studios, which released his Zendaya-led film Challengers last year. His other features as director include Call Me by Your Name (2017), Suspiria (2018), Bones and All (2022) and Queer (2024).
Roberts’ recent film credits include the Universal romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise alongside George Clooney and last year’s Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind that co-starred Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.
Variety was first to report on After the Hunt’s release plan.
