"Jujutsu Kaisen 0" Might Be Foreshadowing Somethings For Season 2 Of The Show — Find Out What Here
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has finally hit theaters, and fans have been excited to see how this film ties itself to the series and gives more depth to an already rich story. We're going to dive into the implications of this movie and why 2023 can't come soon enough to see what this movie adds to the show.
Warning: If you haven't seen Jujutsu Kaisen 0 yet, turn away and come back after you have, since we're gonna get into some movie spoilers. You have been warned!!
If you're like me, you were excited to see that Jujutsu Kaisen was getting a film to enjoy and that it was going to tie directly to the show, making it canon, which not a lot of anime films tend to do.
We saw that recently play out with Demon Slayer. Still, Jujutsu Kaisen took a different approach, not making it a sequel to season 2 but making it a prequel to season 1 and introducing us to a character who we had heard of but never gotten a chance to see.
Enter Yuta Okkotsu, a then-16-year-old who is haunted by the powerful curse of Rika, a childhood love who was killed six years prior before his very eyes and ended up being the curse that has protected him even if not by choice.
This relationship dramatically changes his life after Satoru Gojo takes him under his wing and trains him at Tokyo Jujutsu Technical, alongside Maki, Toge, and Panda.
Throughout the movie, we see the relationship develop between these students as they battle against different curses and have the ultimate showdown with Suguru Geto.
It is the end of the film, though, that informs us of the things we might see revisited in Season 2, as we learn that Yuta is the one who unknowingly cursed Rika after her death due to his inability to accept her death and his unwitting power.
All this was brought to his attention after learning about his lineage to Michizane Sugawara, one of the most powerful sorcerers. This not only allowed him to make peace with Rika and set her free but also gave him a new family member to add to his tree, as Satoru reveals he is a distant cousin of his. I am curious about cursed abilities now that he has freed Rika. I would imagine he is still a powerful cursed user considering how other characters spoke about him in Season 1 — specifically Panda, who had mentioned how he competed in the school event all by himself to make it fairer for the others and still ended up the victor.
There was one thing that I really didn't catch until watching it the second time that I was pretty surprised I missed in my first viewing: Suguru Geto doesn't have the stitching across his forehead as he does in the show — which immediately made me wonder why that was.
Since we didn't get to see the killing blow from Gojo and only heard it, could it be that he spared his former friend's life somehow? Or could he have possibly survived or faked his death after being executed by his former comrade? Whether it's answered in the next season or future seasons to come, there has got to be a reason for how he makes it to be the antagonist of the series. Whatever the reason, I am excited to see how it all plays out, seeing that his power and influence made for a fantastic adversary.
We also get to see a post-credit scene where we finally get an answer to where Yuta might have been during Season 1, as we see him having lunch in Kenya with Gojo's former foe, Miguel. Shortly after, we see them chumming it up; we see Satoru walk up, saying, "Long time no see."
It seems most likely that Gojo has had Yuta teaming up with the rope-swinging sorcerer for some secret mission or training, as we all know that Gojo is not a fan of the higher-ups who wanted the young sorcerer executed.
Either way, I hope it's clarified with us in Season 2, as I can't imagine Satoru's bosses being keen on them teaming up with somebody who was trying to kill them. There is also the matter of Satoru and Yuta's family ties. I know Satoru has mentioned how he believes Yuta is possibly his successor in the show, but what else could that mean for the young special grade sorcerer?
It's been rumored that Season 2 will mainly focus on the Shibuya Incident Arc, one of the manga's wildest arcs. I haven't read any of it, but if the hype I've heard about is real, there might be another big battle involving multiple sorcerers similar to the movie, with even more at stake this time around.

I am excited for the new season to drop, even though we won't be getting it until 2023, so hopefully, this movie served as a good buffer and has filled the void for another year.
