JT Issues ‘City Cinderella’ Documentary Ahead Of Solo Debut
JT shares The Making Of City Cinderella documentary, chronicling her journey as a Hip-Hop artist. The short film touches on everything from her time behind bars as the City Girls were experiencing their mainstream breakthrough to her and Yung Miami’s mutual decision to explore separate paths.
Viewers also get insight into the creation of City Cinderella, the 31-year-old’s first rap project as a solo act, officially due on Friday (July 19). The “No Bars” performer shared the tracklist for the mixtape, announcing features from DJ Khaled, Stunna Girl, and Clip. Jeezy also guest stars in the work, adding a verse to the previously released “Okay Remix.”
Along with the mixtape, JT’s Juvies, as she affectionately calls her fanbase, can see the rapper on the City Cinderella tour. The journey comes after a nationwide promotional trek billed as the JT’s Coming Tour where the emerging talent connected with her fans at merchandise pop-ups and intimate venues, with some of them joining her on stage.
The City Cinderella tour kicks off next month in Kansas City, MO with planned stops in Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, and Houston, before wrapping in Los Angeles in September. Tickets can be purchased on the official website.
“City Cinderella is definitely a mixtape,” she detailed to PAPER Magazine. “People work on their albums for a year, albums are just different. So City Cinderella is not my first album, being that I made this project so damn fast. I had to create this project throughout the tour and moving around, so I didn’t have time to really nurture and doctor it. This is just something that I’m putting out with my pure instincts.
She continued, “I mean, seven songs isn’t bad, but why not give a lot of music? I talk entirely too much to be doing [only] seven songs.”
Outside of working on her solo efforts this year, JT also joined fellow Florida-bred rapper Doechii on “Alter Ego.” She has also made gains outside of the booth by launching the JT World Help Foundation and teaming up with local organizations to give away prom dresses to high school students in various cities. Additionally, she gifted one of her own garments to a fan to wear in a competitive pageant.
