Jonathan Majors’ Ex-Girlfriend Settles Assault, Defamation Lawsuit
Jonathan Majors and his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari have reached a settlement in her federal lawsuit against the former Marvel actor accusing him of assault and defamation.
On Thursday, lawyers for both parties filed a joint notice with the court, writing that “all claims against Defendant in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed with prejudice.”

It was initially reported that Jabbari had voluntarily dismissed the case, but her attorney Brad Edwards clarified to Rolling Stone that the parties had reached a settlement, the terms of which are undisclosed.
“We are happy to announce that the lawsuit Grace filed against Jonathan Majors case was successfully settled,” Edwards says. “It took tremendous courage for Grace to pursue this case. We are happy to have helped her close this chapter favorably so that she can move forward and begin to finally heal.”
The settlement arrives nearly a year after Majors was convicted of recklessly assaulting and harassing Jabbari in the back of a taxi cab in New York City. In April, he was sentenced to a 52-week domestic-abuse prevention program.
Reps for Majors did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In March, Jabbari sued the former Marvel actor for defamation, malicious prosecution, assault and battery, detailing more instances where Majors allegedly physically abused her during their nearly two-year relationship. Last November, London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed to Rolling Stone that there was an ongoing investigation in the U.K. over incidents that included allegations of “physical assaults.”
“When publicly confronted with Grace’s numerous allegations of abuse, Majors has called her a liar at every turn and very specifically claimed that he has never put his hands on a woman, with the goal of convincing the world that Grace is not a victim of domestic abuse but instead a crazy liar who should be treated as such,” her lawsuit claimed.
Majors was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and a harassment violation for injuring Jabbari in March 2023 after a fight broke out over his phone when Jabbari saw him receive a romantic text from another woman. Jabbari suffered a fractured finger and a gash behind her ear. The actor maintained his innocence and claimed Jabbari was the aggressor that night. (He was acquitted of the two more serious charges, intentional assault and aggravated harassment.)
After Majors’ conviction, two more women came forward to accuse Majors of abuse. Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper spoke to The New York Times and alleged Majors was physically and/or emotionally abusive during their overlapping relationships with the actor. Duncan claims that on multiple occasions Majors was physically violent with her. During one alleged fight in July 2016, Majors allegedly choked Duncan, “threw her body across the room” and threatened he was “going to make sure you can’t have children.” Majors denied the accusations.
Duncan and Hooper’s accounts were first referred to in a June 2023 Rolling Stone’s investigation where more than a dozen sources — all of which were friends with the women or were present during their relationship — independently corroborated details of the alleged abuse. At the time, Duncan and Hooper declined to comment for the original article, with one of the women, through a spokesperson, citing fear of retribution. “It was pervasively known that he was [a good actor], and that he also would terrorize the people that he had dated,” one of the dozen sources told Rolling Stone.
Following Majors’ conviction in December, Jabbari’s legal team claimed that the actor defamed their client by making numerous false statements, stating that both Majors and his attorneys were “keenly aware of Grace’s allegations that Majors has physically laid hands on her on more than one occasion.” Jabbari’s lawyers pointed out Majors’ January interview with ABC News where he maintained that he has “never hit a woman” and that he said he didn’t know how Jabbari sustained her injuries.
Following his arrest in 2023, Majors’ management and publicity teams dropped the rising Hollywood star, and Marvel severed ties with the actor despite previously planning the franchise’s next two movies around his character. After Searchlight Pictures postponed the Majors-starring film Magazine Dreams’ December 2023 theatrical release, a new distributor recently bought the project and is slated to premiere it in 2025.
