Joan Collins Joins E!’s ‘The Royals’

TV veteran Joan Collins has joined “The Royals” — the first scripted series from E! — in a guest-star role.
The hourlong drama stars Elizabeth Hurley as Queen Helena, a modern-day monarch and head of a fictional British royal family living in the public eye. Collins will play her mother, the grand duchess of Oxford, a character described as the only woman more formidable than the queen herself.
The series, from “One Tree Hill” creator Mark Schwahn and exec producers Brian Robbins and Joe Davola, will premiere in early 2015.
Collins’ casting was first reported by People.
