Jimmy Smits to Guest Star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Amy's Ex-Cop Dad
The latest Brooklyn Nine-Nine guest star already knows his way around a TV precinct house.
Jimmy Smits, who spent five seasons playing a cop on NYPD Blue, will guest star as Amy Santiago’s father on the Nov. 22 episode of Fox’s police comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the Thanksgiving-themed episode, Mr. Santiago is a retired cop who loves his daughter very much… and a guy Jake wants to impress very much. (Yeah, good luck with that, Jake.)

Since playing detective Bobby Simone on NYPD Blue, Smits has had regular roles on The West Wing and Dexter, and recently played Gemma’s lover Nero on FX’s Sons of Anarchy. He’s also co-starring in Fox’s much-anticipated 24: Legacy, debuting in February.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine casting department is on fire this season: Smits joins a Season 4 guest-star list that already includes Maya Rudolph, Rhea Perlman and Veep‘s Matt Walsh — not to mention that New Girl crossover they just pulled off. In the immortal words of Captain Holt: “Hot damn!”
